Ambergris Caye, a beautiful Caribbean island off the coast of Belize, is now home of the largest photovoltaic installation in all of Latin America.
Caye, a beautiful Caribbean island off the coast of Belize,
is now the location of what is the largest photovoltaic installation
in all of Latin America. The system is located at The Essene
Way Resort; a non-denominational facility devoted to physical
and spiritual renewal. The management of The Essene Way became
aware of us through an article describing our involvement
with the Harmony Resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The first
obstacle was the schedule; the client wanted the project completed
in only 90 days. In collaboration with Solar Design Associates,
began a three-month odyssey of design, fabrication, coordination,
shipping, installation, and commissioning of this great energy
system. The 101kW system consists of 1,350 PV modules distributed
on ninety support poles, over a field about 165 feet wide
by 238 feet long. Energy is stored in 600 two-volt batteries,
and backed up by a 125-kilowatt generator.
Im writing to say thank you to both
you and the staff who made our dream of an independent energy
resort a reality. Your thoroughness, attention to detail and
ability to keep all the players rowing in the same direction
is certainly commendable. I was also very impressed by your
ongoing support and commitment to being there for us during
our precarious start-up period . . .
