the beautiful Caribbean Sea, these high-tech tent-cottages
offer some of the Virgin Islands most beautiful vistas.
Each of the tents has its own stand-alone system. The tents
are completely self-sufficient, providing all their own sewage
treatment, water, and power supported by energy-efficient
appliances. Each consisting of individual photovoltaic energy
systems, two tents are also supplemented by a wind generator,
an independent rainwater catchment system, passive solar hot
water, greywater irrigation, composting toilet, propane cook
stove, and electric refrigerator. These structures provide
plenty of creature comforts without disturbing the creatures
that were there before we were.
This year we won recognition at the Caribbean Green
Hotel Awards, something we could not have done without Jeff
Oldhams help. Part of our mission is interpretation,
actually showing our customers how their energy supply works,
a much more difficult challenge for the designer than your
average household energy system, integrating education with
